Hard to believe the old west is back

SIR: I can't believe that Chatham has been turned back into the old west, with "Erickson and his boys" out blowing away birds within city limits. God forbid anyone gets hurt or killed if they happen to be in the area of flying bullets. I know no one would admit to this being a possibility but accidents do happen with guns even out in the wilderness where the population is animals not people. At one time if we heard gunshots we'd call the police thinking someone was being hurt, but now since all shots sound alike we just think "Erickson & his boys" are out playing with their guns again. On TV last night Mr Erickson informed us that this new game will go for a year. So for the next year not only the birds but people need to be careful where there at when the guns go off. I truly hope, council looks at this again before something happens that can't be reversed.

We are part of the earth and it is part of us. The perfumed flowers are our sisters; the deer, the horse, the great eagle: these are our brothers. All things are connected like the blood which unites one's family.... Chief Seattle
